Hunter Marine

Founded in 1973 by Warren Luhrs, of the Luhrs boatbuilding family, initially at Marlboro, New Jersey with John Cherubini as designer; by mid-1982 all production had moved to a large plant at Alachua, Florida, where an in-house design team under Cortland Steck produced the 1980s range. Hunter became one of the largest US builders of production cruising sailboats. It entered Chapter 11 in 2012 and was sold to David Marlow, continuing as Marlow-Hunter.
