Allied Boat Company

US · 1962–1981

Incorporated on 9 February 1962 by a group around Thor Ramsing and the yacht brokers Northrop & Johnson, and housed in a converted brick plant on Catskill Creek at Catskill, New York, about 100 miles up the Hudson from New York City. Its first boat, the Gillmer-designed Seawind 30, became the first fibreglass yacht to circumnavigate; the MacLear & Harris Seabreeze 35 and the Luders 33 followed, and later the Seawind II, Princess 36 and Mistress 39. The company changed hands repeatedly from 1975 (Wright Yacht Company, CFG/Allied, International Cruising Yachts) and ceased building in 1981; the plant was auctioned in 1984.
